ABOUT US
Honoring Your Whole Self Through Culturally Attuned Healing
Your space for Growth and Transformation
OUR MISSION
Tend Therapy & Wellness was founded to offer healing spaces for people of the global majority to reconnect with their true selves. Rooted in anti-oppression and honoring diverse identities, we aim to foster growth, restore wholeness, and cultivate a community that supports and tends to each other.
OUR VALUES
We believe healing is unique to each of us, and hold that the values of honesty, vulnerability, gentleness, and tenderness are essential to the journey. These values are represented by the Fafanto Adinkra symbol of the butterfly (our adopted logo), rooted in the West African Adinkra tradition. Across cultures, butterflies symbolize transformation—a process at the heart of healing. Wherever you are on your own healing journey, Tend Therapy & Wellness can help.
Meet your Therapist
Denique Boxhill (she/her)
LICENSED PROFESSIONAL CLINICAL COUNSELOR & FOUNDER OF TEND THERAPY & WELLNESS
I’m Denique, a mental health therapist licensed in California and Jamaica, and the founder of Tend Therapy & Wellness.
I support adults on their unique journeys of healing and growth.
My approach honors the wisdom you already have, and together, we’ll explore what you need to move toward your goals and become who you want to be. In a warm and conversational space, we’ll uplift your authentic voice and develop perspectives that create meaningful change. While I use various therapeutic techniques, getting to know you will guide the modalities I integrate.
I’m a Black, Jamaican woman, and immigrant, passionate about celebrating our whole selves and integrating our identities. I’m deeply curious about what shapes us and how we make meaning of the world and our interactions.
My work is grounded in the tenets of Black Psychology and honors the legacy of those who paved the way for people of the global majority to experience freedom and peace.
“As a daughter of the African diaspora, with this space—I honor my heritage and hope to build a community where we celebrate yours.”
In addition to my clinical work, I’ve spent nearly 20 years as an organizational change consultant, from Big 4 corporate consulting to supporting nonprofits of all sizes. In that capacity, I find joy in helping leaders and organizations transform ways of being to create cultures of equity, wholeness, and belonging.
I’ve had the honor to serve as a past Board President of the California Association for Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors and as a Therapist in Residence with the Association of Black Psychologists - Bay Area Chapter. I also proudly serve my Caribbean community through various partnerships.
I love a great read, a good laugh, and spending time with my family. I adore slow Sunday mornings and wherever there is music, I’m likely dancing (cue reggae).
